PROJECT GAMBIA – Day 3

Mrs Sevier writes…

Well, what an exceptionally busy day! 18 students managed to get up early enough to make it to the beach to watch the sunrise, however, the sun had other ideas! Whilst it has been glorious, unfortunately the mist was too dense to get it rising! Mrs Narrowmore did manage a quick pic about half hour later!

We divided into two groups this morning. Mrs Sevier had 13 students who went to Wisdom nursery school and did an array of activities with the children. The other 19 students, accompanied by Mr Cajigal and Mrs Narrowmore went to visit Gambia’s one and only special school.

After a quick lunch stop at the hotel, we went out to St Peter’s nursery school to whitewash the classroom walls in preparation of the educational artwork that we will paint on them in the coming days.

Having worked so hard, we stopped at the ice cream parlour on the way back to the hotel.

Finally, I’m typing this whilst supervising the students in the pool! If you ever want to see a holiday pool area clear of guests, just put 32 very happy students in the pool at the end of a long day! 🤣

This evening we understand that there will be some entertainment in the form of a reggae band which the students are very excited about!
