Outstanding Ofsted Verdict

Ofsted Inspectors have given an Outstanding verdict in their recent visit to The Earls High School, receiving 23 Outstanding Grades out of 27 and 4 Good. Outstanding areas included the ‘Quality of Teaching’, ‘The Curriculum’, ‘Leadership & Management’, ‘Governance’, ‘ Achievement’, ‘Value for Money’ and ‘Overall Effectiveness’.
 
In particular Inspectors commented on ‘the tireless determination of the Headteacher, staff and Governors’. They said, ‘This outstanding school provides excellent opportunities for students to thrive and develop as mature and well-rounded young people. It shows that young people can achieve exceptionally well, irrespective of circumstance’.
 
The report draws attention to the ‘exuberant learning ethos’, ‘high quality teaching that captivates and enthuses students’, ‘exceptionally high levels of care, guidance and support that students receive’, ‘the welcoming ambience of the school’ and that the ‘behaviour of students in lessons and around the school is good and often impeccable’.
 
Tom Johnston, Principal, commented that the outstanding outcome is the product of hard working staff and the building of strong and supportive relationships between staff, students and parents over a number of years. It reflects well on the school and the community of Halesowen including the local partnerships with Primary schools and other providers.
