Message from Mr Kew on recent school closures

15 January 2010

Dear Students and Parents:

The New Year has started with some awful weather and brought with it some disruption.

I hope everyone felt our communications over school closures were effective and decisive. If you did not receive a text message informing you of the closures you may wish to send us any updated mobile numbers. The decision to close the school is not one we take lightly and the prime concern is the health and safety of students travelling to school and their safety on the school site which has many outside, icy and dangerous paths. We know it causes you disruption and appreciate your continued support.

When the school was open in the severe conditions many students made a tremendous effort to attend, which reveals qualities which are to be admired and praised. A special mention must go to the students who sat exams on Wednesday all of whom attended, many walking miles, arriving on time.

Uniform naturally was practical (and creative) in the severe conditions but can I remind both students and parents of the following:

·         Hoodies are not allowed in school
·         Hats and scarves should not be worn inside
·         Normal school shoes should be worn
·         Years 7-10 should wear clip on ties (if lost they can be purchased from Dancers
       or Oakes)
·         Year 11 wear ties correctly (we have over 50 ties to ‘loan’)

Thank you for your continuing cooperation and support.

Mr R Kew
Deputy Head Teacher
