Earls Collegiate AS students recently volunteered with assisting the wardens at Leasowes Park in readiness for winter.

The Earls Collegiate was set up in September in collaboration with Halesowen College.  Alongside their studies, students are part of the Government's vinvolved scheme which means that they do work to help in the community.  Usually they support younger students in school but this was something a bit different!

Ben Whittington, an Earls Collegiate student said:  "We cleared holly and cut back bushes.  It was good to be able to help the wardens at Leasowes Park and do something a little bit different".

Another student, Emma Pitt, said:  "I enjoyed the experience as it allowed me to meet new people and I felt that I was helping the environment which is something that I am interested in doing".

Zoe Yeomans the Youth Volunteer Advisor for the vinvolved team commented:  "It was lovely to work with the students who I think all had a great time and were polite, fun and hard working.  They were a credit to the Collegiate".

Lin Begley, Senior Tutor of the Earls Collegiate, said:  "I was very pleased that the event went so well.  The vinvolved scheme has really encouraged students to get involved and put something back into the local community as well as give students valuable experience for university and job applications.  Lots more events are planned for the future".
