GCSE success

GCSE success

Students at The Earls High School have been celebrating their GCSE results today and we are delighted that they have once again achieved excellent results. 69% of students achieved grade 4 or above in both English and maths with 50% achieving a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in these subjects. One in four grades awarded were grade 7 or above.

Headteacher Nic Hirsch said, ‘We are very proud of the achievements and hard work of our students. These results are a product of the students’ dedication, the quality and commitment of staff at the school, the support of parents and the excellent start that students have in the primary schools of Halesowen.’

Notable results include Harrison Baugh, Muhammad Al Saidi, Grace Stokes, Mya Sandhu, and Jessica Dale who achieved up to seven Grade 9’s.

Congratulations also go to Bryanna Beaton, Freddie Leashorne and Jodie Middleton who have all made exceptional progress in their time at The Earls High School.

We are proud of the young people that all our students have become and know that they will continue to make a positive contribution to our local community. We are confident that they will thrive in the next steps of their education and wish them all the best for the future.

MFL Spelling Bee

MFL Spelling Bee

On Wednesday we held the finals of our MFL Year 7 Spelling Bee in school. Audience members feasted on cakes while the competitors took turns on stage to spell as many words as they could in French, German or Spanish in one minute. Not only did they have to remember the translation of the word, they had to use the target language alphabet to spell it!
Although this was a fun competition for our students, the knowledge of phonics is a huge part of being able to speak a language well, and so all the work that students have put in will stand them in good stead over the coming years.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 7 students and what they have achieved in their first year in languages at The Earls – it takes a huge amount of bravery to get up on stage in such a high pressure environment. Congratulations to all students who took part, and to our winners in the pictures below.
Thanks also go to the amazing MFL staff team for this and all the other opportunities they provide for our students.
