Whilst the country endured a heatwave, a brave Year 9 class took part in a Guinness World Record attempt! Initiated by renowned chef Jamie Oliver, the aim was to get as many groups of people as possible, cooking right across the country, all at the same time!
At 11am, students started a nationwide Zoom call and were greeted by Jamie himself as he introduced the world record attempt. Food teacher, Mrs Kusinska said, ‘the pace was crazy, and due to the heat, we were just as boiled as the pasta! We made pasta with Typo 00 flour and an egg, plus a raw pasta sauce with finely diced fresh tomatoes, basil and garlic and seasoned to their own liking. We all had to sit down to eat at the end for the final photo. It was exciting to be part of something unique, and it was good for some of my future year 10 Food students to be a part of it!’.
We have submitted our evidence, and now we wait to hear whether the world record has been successfully broken. A big thank you to Mrs Kusinska and Mr Whittaker for supporting the students, and well done to everyone involved!
