Concert Review: A Night of Musical Brilliance at The Earls High School
On the warm evening on 24th June, The Earls High School’s main hall was filled with pride, talent, and the joyful sound of music as students, staff, and families gathered for the annual Summer Music Concert. The evening was a celebration of the school’s vibrant musical community, showcasing a wide array of ensembles and performers across all year groups. The concert was a testament to the dedication and passion of the school’s music department.
The evening opened with a bold performance from the Brass ensemble, whose confident playing and tight rhythm delighted the audience. The Guitar ensemble brought energy to the room and then Little Big Band showcased huge improvement since taking up these instruments only 9 months ago. Next, Chamber Choir took to the stage, filling the hall with rich vocal harmonies followed by toe-tapping numbers from the Jazz ensemble.
The second half was loudly started off with the impressive sound of Samba! A complete shift in style came with the arrival of the String group, their performance, more intimate in nature. The Choir, impressive in numbers, demonstrated their strong memory of lyrics to the audience before the Orchestra showcased the wonderful music from Wicked and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Staff Choir, not to be missed of course, entertained the audience with vibrant arrangements of popular songs, and towards the end of the concert lots of year 7 students took to the stage for a fun and energetic performance of the Beatles, Twist and Shout!
An outstanding evening came to an end with over 160 students performing together for the finale of Walking on Sunshine, continuing to bring flair and life to Hall A, met with huge appreciation and applause from the audience.
This year’s concert not only highlighted the breadth of musical talent at The Earls High School, but also the sense of community and collaboration that lies at the heart of its music programme. Congratulations
