Welcome to Your New School
Year 6 transition
Hello Year 6 students and parents, and a very warm welcome to your transition page, which contains everything you’ll need to guide you through joining us at The Earls High School in September. Moving to secondary school is a big step, and even though we may have to do things a little differently this year, we can’t wait to begin the journey with you.
We know how important it is to make sure that you feel supported during this time. Our transition process aims to:
- Develop your confidence and prepare you for secondary school.
- Ignite your enthusiasm about the new subjects and opportunities you will have.
- Introduce you to some of the key members of staff you will be working with.
On this page you’ll find welcome videos from the students, the Year 7 Team and some of our teachers. Year 6, there are lots of activities for you to get involved in, which could lead to receiving your House Flash when you join us! There is also lots of important information for parents and carers.
Teams Transition Portal
We’ve created a Transition Portal on Microsoft Teams and lined up some exciting events to give you a flavour of life at The Earls, and the chance to meet some of your new teachers and fellow students. You’ll receive more information about this after May half term.
Year 6 House Flash Challenge
At The Earls High School, you will see lots of students wearing flashes (badges) on their jumpers. They are very proud of these flashes, which represent achievements in all sorts of aspects of school life. House flashes are awarded for representing your House in a competition, but this year, you have the chance to earn yours before you even start, by completing our House Flash Challenge.
You’ll be given a copy of the booklet in the next few weeks. You will see that there are lots of activities to choose from, and you might do some of them at your primary school, too. To earn your House flash, you’ll need to score at least 10 points.
Information for Parents and Carers
To help parents of children starting in Year 7, we’ve put together a comprehensive booklet containing key information for new starters.
We have also listed the most frequently asked questions to provide some initial information about day-to-day life at The Earls High School.
Parent information evening
In the summer term we hold a new parents information evening, to answer some of the questions you may have regarding your son or daughter’s transition to The Earls.
