Weekend writing workshops in Limerick

On Friday 16th November, five of our year 11 students travelled to Limerick, Ireland to take part in ‘Telling the Other Story: Narratives without borders’, a four-day cultural programme in Limerick co-facilitated by the global not-for-profit Narrative 4 and the University of Birmingham. Students spent four days working with renowned British and Irish authors in a range of creative writing workshops leading up to a ‘story exchange’ involving both British and Irish students focused on exchanging personal narratives to build empathy and shatter stereotypes. They were absolutely fantastic throughout the weekend – a credit to themselves and the school!

There was great interest in the event and our students will feature in The Guardian’s Weekend magazine on December 1st and also in a documentary film being produced by students from the University of Birmingham.
