Fundraising Day for Haiti

On Friday 29th January 2010 The Earls held a Mufti and Fundraising Day in aid of the victims of the Haiti Earthquake Disaster.

Amongst the many fundraising events taking place was a Netball Match on the school Tennis Courts at Lunchtime - Year 11 Girls versus school PE Staff, with male staff donning gym slips for the event.  The game was watched by a large cheering crowd of students and staff.  Both teams were very competitive and although the staff team conceded one goal to the Year 11 girls, I am afraid experience won over enthusiasm and the PE staff came away with a convincing win at the end of the game.

There was a 'Bring & Buy' cake sale at Break Time in the Food Technology room which was very popular.  Many students and staff had spent the previous evening baking a wonderfully colourful selection of tasty bites and the queue for the cakes stretched out of the main doors and down the school drive.

Our team of Teaching Assistants opted to dress in school uniform for the day (which the students enjoyed) and sold clip-on ribbons.

The evening was taken over with a charity variety show involving students and staff performing music, dance and comedy acts which drew a capacity audience of parents and students who gave very generously to a parting collection as well as paying their entry fee.

A truly stunning day and a tribute to the community spiritedness of the school.  The total amount raised was £2437.46 which was well over the target we had set for the day.
