On Sunday 2nd February, 2020, twenty-four boys from Years 7 and 8 set off from the Earls at 7.30am to travel to London to experience Explode 2020, a day of dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
This day was specifically tailor made to included free workshops and performances for boys aged 11-16 in secondary school, suitable for beginners, as well as those with dance experience.
The boys were given the opportunity to experience three different styles of dance, which were Contemporary Dance, Street Dance and African Dance; these were led by professional male dance artists with a passion for dance and moving.
At the end of an exhausting but exhilarating day the boys were treated to the opportunity of watching exciting performances by male dance artists, including an all male dance group from another secondary school that had us all sitting in awe with the power and agility of the performance!
I think following the animated comments from the boys, Street Dance was their favourite dance workshop that day with the African Dance coming a close second!
We all came away exhausted, but having enjoyed a fun packed, high energy day!
