This year’s Summer Music Festival saw more than 160 students, playing instruments ranging from Guitars to Guiros and Surdos to Saxes, performing in what can only be described as a truly stunning musical feast. Demand for tickets so far exceeded supply, that in response, the event was streamed live via YouTube. The audience was entertained for more than two hours with music from myriad genres including Samba, Soul, Blues, Western Classical and Pop. Performances came from those at the very beginning of their musical careers right through to our most accomplished instrumentalists and singers. Highlights included the Jazz Group’s super tight rendition of Stevie Wonder’s Superstition, an orchestral adaptation of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and a staff acapella medley of ‘Lunar’ favourites. This was truly one of the highlights of the school year and a superb display of our students’ talents.
